About

I'm Will.

Wild Made is me, on my own. There's no team behind this page and no account manager — when you email, I'm the one who reads it and I'm the one who builds the site.

I come at this from writing code rather than from marketing, which mostly shows up in what I leave out. No page builder, no twelve tracking scripts, no cookie banner you have to dismiss before you can read anything. Sites I build are hand-written, which is why they open quickly on a five-year-old phone halfway up a hill.

I'm based in Bristol and work with businesses across the UK. Nearly all of it happens over email, so where you are makes no practical difference — but if you're local and would rather talk it through in person, that's easy enough to arrange.

How I work

You own it, and you're not tied to me.

Most web work is sold with a monthly fee attached. I don't do that, and it's worth being straight about why.

  1. No hosting, no retainer, no monthly anything

I'd rather not be the person you have to ring when something goes down at eleven at night — I'd do it badly, because this isn't my full-time job. So I don't sell it. You get the finished site and its files, and you or whoever already looks after your IT takes it from there. I'll set it up on your own hosting account once if that's easier.

  2. The price is agreed before I start

A fixed fee, in writing, with the number of pages and the number of revision rounds written down next to it. No hourly billing, so there's no incentive for me to be slow.

  3. You see it before you commit

The first homepage mockup is free and costs you nothing to ignore. If you don't like it, that's the end of it — no follow-ups.

  4. Built to be handed over

Plain HTML and CSS, commented, in a folder you can hand to anyone. Not locked to a platform, a licence, or a theme that stops being updated.

Being honest

What I'm not the right person for.

Cheaper to say this now than three weeks in.

Good fit

  • A small business with a site that's dated, slow, or unusable on a phone
  • Four or five pages that need to look right and load fast
  • You want it done once, properly, and then left alone
  • You'd rather deal with one person than an agency process

Not a good fit

  • An online shop, a booking system, or customer logins
  • Anything needing round-the-clock support or a guaranteed response time
  • Ongoing SEO campaigns or paid advertising management
  • A large site with a content team behind it

If you need one of these, say so and I'll tell you straight away rather than taking the work.

No obligation — happy to share more if it's useful.

If you've got a business and a website you're not happy with, send me the name and I'll show you what the homepage could look like.
